CLEARVIEW VIRTUAL ACADEMY

CLEARVIEW VIRTUAL ACADEMY
Due to Covid-19 many students and families have selected to engage in 100% online learning for the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year. This option was identified and reviewed in the Clearview Reopening Plan. These students will be placed in the newly formed Clearview Virtual Academy. 
 

General Information for Clearview Virtual Academy Students/Families:
  • Students Kindergarten – Grade 3 will receive their online instruction from an identified Clearview Local Schools teacher. All correspondence for learning activity will be conducted through this teacher utilizing Google Classroom as the online learning portal. Students/families will be notified accordingly by Vincent Elementary staff for access information. Start date will be August 31st. 
  • Students in Grades 4 and 5 will receive their online instruction through Calvert Learning, part of Edmentum Inc. Account access information will be communicated by the Clearview Local Schools district office and by the student’s school building. Start date will be September 3rd. 
  • Students in Grades 6 – 12 will receive their online instruction through Edmentum Courseware. Account access information will be communicated by the Clearview Local Schools district office and by the student’s school building. Start date will be September 3rd. 
  • A section of the Clearview Local Schools website has been allocated for the Clearview Virtual Academy. Here you will find online learning information, weblinks to Calvert Learning and Edmentum, orientation videos pertaining to your online learning service, and other pertinent information to help assist in your online learning experience.   • A Clearview Local Schools teacher will serve as a student monitor for course attendance and progress. The monitor will also serve as a contact to assist and support the 100% online learning students. Monitor information can be found to the right. 
Expectations for Clearview Virtual Academy Students:
Attendance
Students are to login to their online learning provider daily. If login cannot be made, notification must be given by email to the student’s online learning monitor. Clearview Virtual Academy students are to be logged in and engaged in coursework for a minumum of three hours per day; hours can be interspersed throughout the day as needed. 

Schedule:
Students are to login and engage in online coursework and assignments daily. Calvert and Edmentum programs are self-paced; time on task and completion rates will vary by student. 
  • K-3: Identified by assigned teacher
  • Calvert Learning Grades 4 – 5: Three hours total per day of online learning engagement; can be interspersed throughout the day. Times may vary.  
  • Edmentum Grades 6 – 12: Three hours total per day of online learning engagement; can be interspersed throughout the day. Times may vary. 
Grading: 
Student grading will follow the traditional 4.0 scale and expectations as identified in the Clearview Local Schools. Grades will transfer to PowerSchool and transcripts accordingly. 
  • K-3: Clearview teacher will assign grades.
  • Grades 4 - 5: Calvert Learning staff and computerized grades will be assigned. 
  • Grades 6 -12: Edmentum computerized grades and Clearview staff grading will be assigned.

Calvert Parent/Guardian Account Login
Parent/Guardian Accounts have now been created. Having access to the parent portal will give you, the Learning Guide, access to your student’s grades and feedback on submitted assessments, access to the Teaching Notes which also include the answer keys to the daily work, as well as the ability to manually enter daily hours in the attendance tab.
