Board Approves Use of Blizzard Bag and Calamity Days for Make-Up Days

The Clearview Local Schools has had eight calamity days this winter, exceeding the amount allowed by the State by three days. The Board of Education approved the use of three Calamity Days and one blizzard bag (for Durling only) for the three make-up days required by the State. Due to the unprecedented harsh winter, the General Assembly amended provisions for Calamity Days with amended Substitute HB 416 providing a number of options for school districts to consider.

Following are the plans for the Clearview Local Schools.

3 Make-up Days, which will be the following:

  • Friday, April 18th
  • Monday, May 12th
  • Friday, May 30th

Students at Durling will need to complete a blizzard bag to make up for 1 extra Calamity Day from the power outage September 30, 2013. Blizzard Bags will be released to middle school students on April 14, they will have two weeks to complete the assignments with a due date of April 25.
